Thank you to everyone for the wonderful birthday wishes and prayers. I can't tell you how much it means for us to get on and hear from all of you.
What a great day we had today. We started off with lab at 7:45 followed by a routine IV infusion and off to the clinic until 10:45. The doctors thought Layton looked great. His lab work came back so good, we can skip lab tomorrow morning! After spending the morning at doctor appointments, we asked Layton what he wanted to eat for his birthday and he requested "CHEESE PIZZA", so we headed across the street to the California Pizza Cafe. I'm sure people walked by and stared as I put on my rubber gloves and proceeded to wipe that table, chairs and anything else I could find to clean that may have germs on to it. We have been told it is best now for Layton to eat in places that have outdoor seating and that are away from too many people. This was perfect!!!
We proceeded to come back to the RMH for family nap time. Nights are still not very restful. Layton's feeding tube alarm goes off often because of kinks or the need to be refilled. I am also a bit paranoid so constantly take the flashlight and walk over to see that his feeding tube in GLUED TO HIS FACE!! I do not want any return trips to the ER anytime soon.
After naptime, we went downstairs and had dinner provided by a local charity and then went on a nice walk with Grandpa and Grandma Schmitz. They came back and helped me give Layton a sponge bath and do some re-organizing in our room. Layton opened a couple gifts and is now reading books with Dad. Its horrible how late he has been getting to bed, but by the time we get through the med routine of changing this and cleaning that, its about 9 pm.... regardless of when we start!
We all cannot wait to see Logan and Grandma tomorrow. This week we will plan a few short trips to the beach to watch the surfers and walk the beach. Nothing too major planned, but we will have a great time just being together!! MOM AND DAD NEED SOME SNUGGLE TIME AND LAYTON CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIS BIG BROTHER!
